Books And Authors I Like:
I met a fabulous bunch of readers and authors alike at Bouchercon 2007. I'll be looking for all of them here.
Movies And TV Shows I Like:
When I actually do watch TV, I rarely get to choose as the men folk control the remote. I've grown to appreciate the sweet silence when the one-eyed brain-sucker is turned off.

Law & Order - all of them
CSI: Las Vegas followed by Miami
My husband likes to watch Cops so I see a fair amount of that as well.

Recognition by Peers is a Wonderful Thing

Every year Preditors and Editors has a poll of Reader's Choices for the previous year.

I just got word yesterday that my debut novel with Dark Eden Press, Halo in Her Pocket, made the Top Ten list! Settling in at #8, this is a huge honor as Halo released in Oct 2007. On the list with some really wonderful authors, I'm just pleased Halo was nominated at all, but to make the top ten... wow. I'm stunned!

If you want a break from mystery and appreciate a little romp on the wild…

Early Endorsements for “A Circle of Souls”

Linda Fairstein, NYT Bestselling Author: "A fascinating debut - this novel takes the reader to the darkest places in the human soul, from a writer with the authenticity to lead us there. A stunning thriller and an important read."

Judge Judy Sheindlin, star of the Judge Judy Show: "The seminal work of this fine author kept me glued to my chair until the adventure was over and the mystery solved. A great read!"

Book Synopsis:

The sleepy town of Newbury, Connecticut, is shocked when a little girl is found brutally murdered. The town s top detective, perplexed by a complete lack of leads, calls in FBI agent Leia Bines, an expert in cases involving children.

Meanwhile, Dr. Peter Gram, a psychiatrist at Newbury s hospital, searches desperately for the cause of seven-year-old Naya Hastings devastating nightmares. Afraid that she might hurt herself in the midst of a torturous episode, Naya s parents have turned to the bright young doctor as their only hope.

The situations confronting Leia and Peter converge when Naya begins drawing chilling images of murder after being bombarded by the disturbing images in her dreams. Amazingly, her sketches are the only clues to the crime that has panicked Newbury residents. Against her better judgment, Leia explores the clues in Naya s crude drawings, only to set off an alarming chain of events.
In this stunning psychological thriller, innocence gives way to evil, and trust lies forgotten in a web of deceit, fear, and murder.

Good grief, Morgan! At first I thought - wow - someone was at Rum Runners longer than I thought! Do I dare to read? Also, love the photo of you with the wonderful dog (sniffling, I miss my dog--she flew to NY with one of the authors who attended Bouchercon and might not be back except to visit)... we think we're going to be meeting at the Northrim Bank for Alaska Sisters in Crime on Nov. 13th... you can check www.aksinc.org for latest meeting news Monday night or Tuesday -- that's when we'll have the info confirmed. We're kinda chuckling that the bank would let us (strangers) in afterhours and with our group's title. Anyway, if I dare to read your novella (it would be something completely different) I'll probably still be in shock when I see you at the AKSinC meeting!!! Dana Stabenow is getting her Alaska Artist of the Year award tonight from Governor Palin at the Governor's Awards for the Arts and Humanities banquet in Fairbanks. I was going to be there, but Dana wryly pointed out it was a very expensive venture just to get some photos. So got their official photog to promise us photos of Dana getting her award and will have to be satisfied with that. Anyway, hope we'll see you Nov. 13th if not sooner. Are you doing signings for this??? -Karen

That is quite the cover. Seems like something I will have to check out for sure. Thanks for the update. Good luck. Alaska is the best. Love that state. Are people talking about "Into The Wild" up there or are the over it? Good luck with the book. I have to track one down. Cheers, Mark

Hi, Morgan!! Thanks so much for writing--I miss Anchorage very much, and in fact am still suffering withdrawal. ;)

You all are just the best--I wish Bouchercon was there every year (though I guess that wouldn't be fair to Karen and Marcy and the other extraordinarily devoted people who put it together!)

Take care, thanks for the tremendous hospitality, and please keep in touch! :)

Teenagers do come in handy. Shame I don't have one of my own. Maybe I can get an intern. My girlfriend and I revel in our role as everybody's favorite eccentric aunt and uncle, but still... when you need one, a teenager sure does come in handy. I'm off on book tour soon and the house sitter isn't so technically minded. Maybe I can hire a local hoodlum to come in and set stuff up for me.
I like the idea of romance for a "furious" mood. Had one of those last night after a Chinese meal.
