Early Endorsements for “A Circle of Souls”

Linda Fairstein, NYT Bestselling Author: "A fascinating debut - this novel takes the reader to the darkest places in the human soul, from a writer with the authenticity to lead us there. A stunning thriller and an important read."

Judge Judy Sheindlin, star of the Judge Judy Show: "The seminal work of this fine author kept me glued to my chair until the adventure was over and the mystery solved. A great read!"

Book Synopsis:

The sleepy town of Newbury, Connecticut, is shocked when a little girl is found brutally murdered. The town s top detective, perplexed by a complete lack of leads, calls in FBI agent Leia Bines, an expert in cases involving children.

Meanwhile, Dr. Peter Gram, a psychiatrist at Newbury s hospital, searches desperately for the cause of seven-year-old Naya Hastings devastating nightmares. Afraid that she might hurt herself in the midst of a torturous episode, Naya s parents have turned to the bright young doctor as their only hope.

The situations confronting Leia and Peter converge when Naya begins drawing chilling images of murder after being bombarded by the disturbing images in her dreams. Amazingly, her sketches are the only clues to the crime that has panicked Newbury residents. Against her better judgment, Leia explores the clues in Naya s crude drawings, only to set off an alarming chain of events.
In this stunning psychological thriller, innocence gives way to evil, and trust lies forgotten in a web of deceit, fear, and murder.

Nancy,
To catch you up a bit. I finally got that PhD in criminal justice administration and am working at the University of Alaska Fairbanks in the Justice department teaching undergraduate and graduate programs. I have been doing some research and have posted some of it in my NING site at http://researchincrime.ning.com/ ... you may want to go there and see some of it. Would love to have you be a member there.

Katherine and I have a home in Coos Bay, OR and I am there during the summers and X-mass breaks. This summer I am doing the house painting and built a deck and wood shed (extra heating via a wood stove). Got most of that done and a couple of other small projects on the board to complete.

With the extra time I have now I hope to be able to get back to doing some writing on the Tru North or Lynn Fhaolain mystery books this next year... I hope so, cause it is fun where the research stuff (necessary for academia) is a bit more intensive and less relaxing.

We are well but I do not know that I will be getting back to the mid-west for some time.

I have a niece who at 27 is an pediatric oncology nurse (my brother's girl) who is a traveling nurse now and has been doing work traveling for the last 2-3 years. She is quite accomplished and she makes us very proud ... she is a braver soul with the type of work she does than I could be.

How are you and your family? Is Charlie retired, are you, are you all traveling now. How is Doug and his brood?
What is Sonya doing? Tell Sonya that Katherine says hi and always enjoyed having her work at the bookstore when we had that back in Topeka.

Wishing you and yours the best in health, joy and life.
I will look forward to hearing from you again and will send you my personal email when I hear back from you via the Crime Investigation-Research page.

Take care.

My book is set in Houston. I live in north Texas. Sorry to be so vague--you know how it is online!
